Reconstruction project begins with ceremony

Iraqi government and coalition officials are holding a signing ceremony this Wednesday at the Government Center in Ramadi to celebrate the kickoff of the largest reconstruction project in Al Anbar province in the last two years.Valued at over $2.6 million, the plan authorizes the construction of a total of five water treatment facilities throughout the province. The project has taken over a year to finalize and will provide clean water to thousands of citizens in the province. “This is the result of a lot of hard work and persistence on the part of local Iraqi leaders, non-governmental organizations and coalition officials,” said Lt. Col. Robert F. Pressly, Government Support Team assistant commander, 6th Civil Affairs Group. “This project will both provide a much-needed service to the Iraqi people and will also create employment opportunities for hundreds of area residents.”
