Commanding Officer,

Lt. Col. David Gibbs

A native of Queens, New York, LtCol David Gibbs was born on 16 August 1969. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May 1993 after graduating from the Pennsylvania State University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ceramic Science and Engineering. Following completion of the Basic School and Ground Supply Officers Course, he served as the Supply Officer for Combat Service Support Detachment 21 in MCAS Cherry Point, NC. During this period, LtCol Gibbs participated in two Roving Sands exercises.

In 1997 he reported to Supply School, MCCSSS Camp Johnson and served as the Officer In-Charge of the Warehouse Instruction Branch and the S-3/Academics Officer. In 1999 he was selected to attend the Naval Postgraduate School and graduated in October 2001 with a Masters of Science in Information Systems Technology. He completed a thesis with the Department of Electrical Engineering on the Design of a Helmet Mounted Antenna as part of the Navy’s Mobile User Objective System.

In October 2001, LtCol Gibbs reported to the Defense Information Systems Agency for his payback tour. He served as a Watch Officer in the Global Network Operations and Security Center and in the Program Office for the Global Combat Support System - Joint. During March – July 2003, LtCol Gibbs deployed as the DISA Liaison Officer to the Coalition Forces Land Component Command J-6 at Camp Doha, Kuwait during the initial invasion phase of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

 LtCol Gibbs reported to the Exercise Support Division, MAGTF Training Command, Twentynine Palms, CA during January 2005 and served as the Material Readiness Officer. In July 2007 he was transferred to 1st Supply Battalion, were he served as the Supply Management Unit Officer In-Charge and the Supply Company Commanding Officer. During this tour LtCol Gibbs deployed with his unit to Al Taqaddum, Iraq during the Operation Iraqi Freedom 8.2 deployment.

Upon return from deployment, LtCol Gibbs served as the 1st Supply Battalion, Executive Officer. In July 2009 he reported to Programs and Resources, Headquarters Marine Corps and served as the Head of Logistics Assessments in the Programs Assessments and Evaluation Department. He worked the validation of funding requirements for logistics and sustainment programs in support of Marine Corps Program Objective Memorandum and budget development.

LtCol Gibbs’ awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star in lieu of second award, the Joint Service Achievement Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

LtCol Gibbs is married. He and his wife, Shelly are proud parents to one daughter and one son.

 

Sergeant Major

Sgt. Maj. Jeffrey M. Todd

Sergeant Major Jeffrey M. Todd graduated high school in Meridian, Idaho in 1990 and departed for recruit training in MCRD San Diego in January 1991.  As a Precision Measurement Equipment Specialist, he reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 16 in Tustin, California for duty.  During his tenure, he participated in two Marine Expeditionary Unit deployments in support of OPERATION CONTINUE HOPE in Somalia and OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH in Kuwait.

In 1997, Sergeant Todd was selected to serve as a Drill Instructor at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California and was promoted to Staff Sergeant.  He was certified as a Close Combat Instructor Trainer and earned a certification as a Static Rope Suspension Techniques Master.

In 2001, Staff Sergeant Todd was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 11 in Miramar, California and was selected for promotion to Gunnery Sergeant.  During his tour, he served as the Calibration Chief, Martial Arts Instructor Trainer, and deployed with Marine Aircraft Group 11 as the Headquarters Company First Sergeant for OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM in 2003.

Gunnery Sergeant Todd reported to Mobile Calibration Complex 1, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan in 2005 and served as the Quality Assurance Representative and Production Chief for the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing's Type III Calibration facility.

Gunnery Sergeant Todd reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina in 2006 for duty as the Calibration Chief and was promoted to First Sergeant in January 2008.

As the Company First Sergeant for Bravo Company and Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines, First Sergeant Todd deployed to the Al Anbar province in Iraq and the Helmand Province in Afghanistan.

In 2011, while assigned to Marine Forces Korea, First Sergeant Todd served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor at Camp Mujuk, Pohang, South Korea where he was selected for Sergeant Major.  Sergeant Major Todd is currently serving as the Battalion Sergeant Major for 2d Supply Battalion.
