LtCol William P. Carroll
LtCol Carroll was born in November 1970 in Quantico, Virginia. He is a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College and was commissioned in December 1993. He attended the Basic Officer Course 2-94 (“B” Company) during the winter of 1994 and graduated in June. He then reported to 8th Motor Transport Battalion, 2d Force Service Support Group (2d FSSG) in July 1994..
As a lieutenant, he served as a platoon commander in Charlie Company, 8th Motor Transport Battalion until September of 1994 when attended the Motor Transport Officer Course (MTOC) at Camp Johnson, North Carolina. Upon graduation in November 1994, he reported back to Charlie Company until he was detached to Combat Service Support Detachment 27 (CSSD 27) in May 1995 for Combined Arms Exercise (CAX 9-10). In November 1995, he returned to Charlie Company, where he was subsequently promoted to 1stLt in December 1995.
In April 1996, he was detached to the MEU Service Support Group 26 (MSSG-26) where he served as the Motor Transport Officer and Liaison Officer for the Evacuation Control Center during Noncombatant Evacuation Operations (NEO). While attached with MSSG-26, LtCol Carroll participated in Operation Silver Wake (NEO) in Tirana, Albania and Operations Guardian Retrieval in Brazzaville, Congo.
In August 1997, he detached from MSSG-26 and 8th Motor Transport Battalion and reported for duty at The Basic School. He was promoted to the rank of Captain and served as a Staff Platoon Commander for Fox Company (BOC 6-97), Echo Company (BOC 5-98), the Executive Officer for Charlie Company (BOC 3-99), and the Motor Transport Officer. In July 2000, he detached from TBS and attended the Amphibious Warfare School (AWS).
Upon graduation from AWS, he reported to Marine Aircraft Group 31, as the Assistant Logistics Officer. In October 2003, he was promoted to Major. In January 2004, he reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 273 and served as the Operations Officer during their deployment to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF II). He returned in September 2004 and returned as the Logistics Officer for MAG-31 until he detached in May 2005.
In June 2005, LtCol Carroll assumed the command of Recruiting Station Louisville, Kentucky. After three years on recruiting duty, LtCol Carroll relinquished command and attended the College of Naval Command and Staff at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
In July 2009, LtCol Carroll reported to Camp Johnson, NC where he became the first Director of the Marine Corps Logistics Operations Group (MCLOG). He served in this capacity until July 2011, where he detached and reported to 2d Marine Logistics Group (2d MLG). In August 2011, he deployed with 2d MLG (Fwd) to Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan where he served as the Deputy G-3 and Current Operations Officer until 2d MLG (Fwd)’s redeployment in February 2012.
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with one Gold Star, Navy Commendation Medal with one Gold Star, a Navy Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
