Adopt-a-school Program

The Adopt-a-school program is a community outreach program where the Marines from 3D Radio Battalion volunteer their time and effort to give back to the community and the Ka'elepulu Elementary School by participating in sanctioned events organized by the school's staff. The team of Marines is led by program liaison Sgt Landers, L. C. and her assistant Cpl Lau, T. Together they coordinate with Mrs. Sue Stock, the school's principle. The school is grades K-6 and has about 190 students.
This year, the school has already put on a couple of events. The Marines that attend are volunteers and assist in the coordination and success of the event. Below are some of the events that have already been held:
- On April 24th, the school held a silent auction/lawn concert in order to help raise money for the school's music, art and physical education programs.
- May 24th was the schools water day/picnic. The event was organized on one of the last days of school for the students as a way of interaction with the community and an end of the year celebration.
- On May 26th, the school held an awards ceremony for the students and their families. The students receive awards and recognition for all academic, athletic, and special achievement throughout the year.
More events are to be scheduled in the future to include a "Beautification" Day in June and a Turkey Run later this year. As dates are announced they will be posted to the events calendar for more information. Also pictures from past events will be posted in this section so check back soon!
