The infantry men of Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marines, 4th Marine division sent rounds down ranger using every kind of weapon they brought with them to Benin – scout rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers – during one of the final joint U.S.-Benin live-fire exercise of SHARED ACCORD 2009.
The exercise centered on fire team and squad rushes with machine gun and scout cover as well as the use of medium machine guns and the M203 grenade launcher.
The Marines first demonstrated their fire and movement techniques before the Beninese army returned the favor.
SHARED ACCORD is a scheduled, combined U.S.-Benin exercise designed to improve interoperability and mutual understanding of each nation’s military tactics, techniques and procedures. Humanitarian and civil affairs events run concurrent with the military training. The exercise is scheduled to conclude June 25.
