As the command's primary legal advisor, the Staff Judge Advocate provides timely legal advice and support to the Commander, staff, and subordinate commands of MARFORCOM. The Staff Judge Advocate exercises staff cognizance over all legal issues within the command, providing legal advice and support across the broad spectrum of issues including military justice, administrative law, ethics and standards of conduct, legal assistance, investigative support, legal review, training, operational law, powers of attorney and notary functions. The Staff Judge Advocate also maintains a preventive law program to assist the MARFORCOM staff in recognizing and preventing legal problems.
