MARFORCOM provides a robust, U.S. Marine Corps presence in Norfolk, Virginia. The Headquarters’ proximity to the Commander of U.S. Joint Forces Command (CDRUSJFCOM) and the Commander of Fleet Forces Command (CFFC), enables the Commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Command (COMMARFORCOM) to conduct authoritative day-to-day liaison for both operational and programmatic issues as well as become engaged in U.S. Marine Corps service component issues. In addition to serving as CDRUSJFCOM’s Marine Corps component Commander, COMMARFORCOM also serves as the Commander, U.S. Marine Corps Bases, Atlantic, which is comprised of eight Marine Corps organizations: Marine Corps Installations East (MCIEAST), Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, Marine Corps Air Station New River, Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, Marine Corps Security Force Blount Island, and Marine Corps Air Facility Quantico.
CHECKING IN
During normal working hours (0730 – 1630 Monday – Friday) those assigned to MARFORCOM (MCC 111) should report to G-1 Manpower (room 118) on the first deck of MARFORCOM (bldg NH-33). After working hours, on weekends and holidays, report to the Command Operations Center (COC) (room 237) on the second deck of MARFORCOM (bldg NH-33). As you will not have access to MARFORCOM upon your arrival you will need to call either your sponsor at the work number they provided you; the G-1 Manpower Office during normal working hours at one of the numbers listed above (abbreviated to last four of # preceded by the number “6”); or, the COC after hours, on weekends or holidays at 6-1644, utilizing one of the phones immediately inside the entrances to MARFORCOM. Those Marines assigned other commands throughout the Hampton Roads area, who are administratively attached to MARFORCOM Headquarters and Service Battalion, should check-in at your work location during normal working hours or with the Watch or Duty Officer of the command to which you are assigned to have your orders endorsed with the reporting time and date. On the first working day following your arrival you should report to the MARFORCOM Headquarters and Service Battalion S-1 to complete your administrative check-in.

ENLISTED BILLETING
Bachelor enlisted quarters are located aboard Naval Station Norfolk (approximately 3.2 miles from MARFORCOM). Troops live in modern dormitory style quarters with A/C, heating, cable, common entertainment and relaxation areas. Each room is designed for two occupants and has a private bath. For those without a personal conveyance, the Barracks Duty NCO and ADNCO (Cell: 757-630-9329 Land line: 757-444-8562) will provide enlisted personnel with a ride to/from the barracks and MARFORCOM. SCHOOLS
To enroll your children in school, you must have their proof of immunization.
Children entering Kindergarten through seventh grade must:
- Submit the child’s birth certificate
- Have had a complete physical examination within the past year
- Be age five on or before 30 September of the enrollment year
It is recommended that you take action on these requirements well before enrolling your child. If your child is in Special Education or has developmental disabilities, have copies of your child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) and any partial or completed evaluative testing performed by previous schools. Some Hampton Roads area schools require that children rent or purchase their textbooks. The rental amount varies by
