Housing
Base Housing/Off-Base Housing
Base quarters are currently unavailable. An off-base housing referral service is operated by the Base Housing Office. Incoming personnel, whether married or single, are directed to this office prior to renting/purchasing in the civilian community. Personnel will receive helpful information on all types of off-base housing. A list of apartment complexes/mobile home parks and other pertinent rental information is provided for those interested in renting. A personal computer printout of listed properties is supplied to those desiring to rent/purchase a condominium, townhouse, or house. Service members must check in with the Housing Referral Office prior to making any arrangements for off-base housing. The Housing Office number is (586) 282-8178 DSN 786-XXXX FAX (586) 574-5593.

Child care is available off-base at the CDC rate if the child care provider is registered with the Child Development Center.

Licensing & Registration
Operators Licensing & Registration Personnel who require licensing or registration may do so by visiting the local Michigan Secretary of State or going online to their home state DMV or Secretary of State.
DOD Decals and Registration DOD decals and Base stickers are no longer required aboard Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

Motorcycles Operators of motorcycles, mopeds, scooters, and ATVs must meet requirements for registration of motor vehicles and must have a valid driver's license stipulating that the individual is qualified to operate a motorcycle. Regardless of age or rank, all personnel must complete a motorcycle safety course. Operators and passengers must wear helmets and adequate protective clothing when riding a motorcycle. Regulations require motorcycles to have headlights on at all times and riders to wear reflective vests aboard base.
Seatbelts Use of seatbelts aboard Selfridge Air National Guard Base is mandatory.
Bicycles All personnel who ride bicycles on installation streets and roadways must wear approved helmets.
Education
There are many Off-base public schools in the surrounding counties of Selfridge ANGB.

There are literally scores of community and business colleges, technical schools, major colleges and universities in the Macomb County area in which Marines and dependents may attend. A visit to the Education Officer will provide answers to questions about most of these institutions.
There are also on-base opportunities for higher learning offered through courses conducted by Northwood and Vincennes University. Information on enrollment may be obtained from the Command Education Officer.
