LtCol Kreider was born in Orange, California while both parents served the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton and MCAS, El Toro, later settling in Kittery, Maine. He graduated from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology. After working for several years in the private sector, he joined the Marine Corps, graduating from Officer Candidate School and commissioned a Second Lieutenant on 10 December 1995.
After completing The Basic School, he was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 271, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS), Cherry Point, NC, where after graduating Motor Transport Officer’s Course served as the Support Squadron’s Engineer Section Officer in Charge then later as its Motor Transport Officer. In February 1998, he deployed to Norway in support of Operation Strong Resolve as the 2nd MAW advance party Officer in Charge. While at Cherry Point, he also served as the Air Station’s S-4 Officer with Headquarters & Headquarters Service Battalion.
In June 1999, LtCol Kreider received orders to recruiting duty and reported to Recruiting Station, Portsmouth, NH, where he served as the Operations Officer then as the Executive Officer for more than two years, culminating a successful tour with selection as a subject matter expert presenter for Recruiting Management Course.
In December 2002, LtCol Kreider left active duty and immediately joined Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines. In January 2003, while serving as a Platoon Commander, he deployed with Bravo Company to Camp Lejuene in support of Operation Noble Eagle, and later to Okinawa and the Philippines in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). While in the Philippines, he was the Commander of the Guard for the Marine Security Element attached to the Joint Special Operation Task Force-Philippines operating in Zamboanga on the island of Mindanao. Upon returning from deployment, he was assigned as the Executive Officer, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines, Topsham, Maine.
In December 2004, LtCol Kreider transferred to 6th Motor Transport Battalion and served as the Officer in Charge in New Haven, CT for the Direct Support Company A&B (-). In January 2005, he deployed to Al Anbar Province, Iraq as the Company Commander, Transportation Support Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 2, 2nd FSSG (Fwd) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). Upon his return from Iraq, he served as the Company Commander, General Support Motor Transport Company, 6th Motor Transport Battalion, Providence, Rhode Island. During his time in Providence, he also deployed to Morocco in support of Exercise African Lion serving as the Commanding Officer for the Joint Task Force Combat Service Support Element.
In September 2008, LtCol Kreider executed his change of command in order to enroll in Command and Staff Distant Education Program, successfully graduating in May 2010. While attending Command and Staff, he also served as an LNO for Marine Forces North supporting FEMA Region I, Boston, MA until April 2009 when he transferred to 1st Battalion, 25th Marines to serve as the Battalion S-4. He has been serving in his current role as the Battalion Executive Officer since October 2010.
LtCol Kreider has been employed with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Dover, NH since June 2004.
His personal awards include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 2 stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Select Marine Corps Reserve Medal. |
