Greetings! Some people have never heard of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. Many that have, may not completely understand who we are and what we do. ESGR is a Department of Defense agency that seeks to promote a culture in which all American employers support and value the military service of their employees. We do this mainly through our employer recognition program, increasing awareness of applicable laws, and resolving conflicts through mediation. ESGR seeks to prevent issues between employers and service members through proactive education of employers and Reserve service members of the Uniformed Service Employment and Reemployment Rights Act or USERRA. (www.esgr.mil)
As the Marine Corps Reserve Component Liaison for ESGR, my focus is to support our Reserve personnel, and their families, throughout the activation, mobilization and demobilization process. It’s our sacred trust as leaders from top to bottom to provide our personnel with the tools to be successful. In this case, the main tools are education our service members and their employers about the USERRA laws, and recognizing those employers when they provide outstanding support to their military employees. In addition with our new mission on Employment Initiative, Yellow Ribbon and Family Readiness Programs is to enhance our focus on a better quality of family living within our Corps.
Your assistance is welcomed and needed in educating Reserve personnel, their family members and employers about ESGR , to help disseminate information about employer support and community partnership, throughout your commands and units information network when they become available. Semper Fidelis,
R.J. "Toby" Tobin, CTR, MPSC Reserve Component Liaison 2000 Opelousas Avenue PAO, ESGR New Orleans, LA 70146 Email: robert.j.tobin.ctr@usmc.mil 504-697-8198 (Voice) 504-697-9786 (Fax)
