Security Engagements:
MARFORSOUTH conducts many different security engagements throughout the area of responsibility (AOR) in cooperation with Partnering Nations (PN). Below is a sample of the security cooperation efforts and engagements routinely conducted in this AOR.
Types of Security Engagements:
Combined Operation Seminar Team (COST)- MARFORSOUTH directed team of instructors that conduct Marine Corps Planning Process seminars in conjunction with PN militaries in order to standardize planning efforts. Normally comprised of 3-4 personnel
Mobile Training Team (MTT)- Initiated by MILGRP's and Executed by USMC personnel. MTT's are a valuble and successful element in supporting USSOUTHCOM's efforst towards establishing and maintaining effective relationships with PN's security forces. Typically consist of 4-10 personnel.
Landing Attack Subsequent Operations (LASO)- Usually done subsequent to COST seminars with PN's. Building upon the capacity of PN's Marine and Naval Infantry forces with the mission of improving host nation infantry tactics. Conducted by teams of 8-10 personnel.
Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE)- Identical functional, technical and professional information exchanges between USMC experts and experts from the Marine and Naval Infantry forces from PN's
Traditional Commander Activity (TCA)- Those MIL-MIL engagements that further relations between U.S. and PN forces.
