MSOIB Senior Enlisted Advisor

Master Sergeant Keith Bonnell

Current Senior Enlisted Advisor Master Sergeant Keith Bonnell entered the United States Marine Corps via the delayed entry program in December of 1994.  Following his graduation from the Parris Island Recruit Training Depot in December of 1995, he attended the entry level course for his Military Occupational Specialty, and was subsequently assigned to the Fleet Marine Forces.

In June 1996, Private First Class Bonnell reported to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron - 465.  While assigned to HMH-465 he supported multiple iterations of the Combined Arms Exercise series, two Unit Deployment Program rotations to Okinawa to include a stint with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and provided direct support to various adjacent units.  During this time he ascended from Private First Class to Sergeant, and from Analyst to Section Chief.

In March of 2000, Sergeant Bonnell reported to Joint Task Force – Full Accounting, Camp Smith, Hawaii.  Initially assigned to a Field Team in the Task Force J3, he participated in multiple Joint Field Activities operating in Southeast Asia, and aided in the repatriation of recovered remains associated with the Vietnam War.  He later moved to the J3 Plans Section where he coordinated support for the Field Activities, and eventually assisted with the Task Force’s merge and re-designation as the Joint POW/MIA Accountability Command.

In January of 2004, Staff Sergeant Bonnell reported to the 1st Marine Division, and was eventually assigned to 3d Battalion, 5th Marines.  During this period he served as the Intelligence Section Chief for the battalion through-out two combat deployments and the associated training events.

In December of 2006, Gunnery Sergeant Bonnell reported to the 3d Marine Division, where he served as the G2 Analytical Section Lead.  In this capacity he supported an iteration of Balikitan, helped stand-up cultural/language training for the Military Training Teams supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, trained and deployed three teams of analysts attaching to Infantry and Intelligence Battalions supporting Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

In December of 2007, Master Sergeant Bonnell was assigned to the Marine Corps Augmentation and Training Support Unit.  While there he served as an Individual Augment supporting various requirements levied on the Marine Corps and helped to develop “best practices.”

In July of 2011, Master Sergeant Bonnell reported to the MARSOC Intelligence Battalion where he currently serves as the Battalion Senior Enlisted Advisor.

Master Sergeant Bonnell’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
