Mission Statement
The Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs Office (NREAO) is located in Building 601, S-4, Second Floor. Our mission is to protect and enhance the natural resources and environment at MCAS Beaufort. Specific programs you may need to contact us about are hunting, fishing, hazardous waste, pollution abatement, wildlife and wetlands. Environmental Protection-It's the LAW. As a federal facility, MCAS Beaufort must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations, as well as, DoD, DoN, and Marine Corps orders. Awareness and training play a key role in ensuring environmental protection and compliance with these regulations. NREAO and the Department of Safety Standards (DSS) provide mandatory Environmental Hazardous Waste and Safety training each month in Building 1036 NREAO/Safety classroom. Environmental training can be formulated for site-specific needs by appointment through the Comprehensive Environmental Training and Education Program (CETEP) Coordinator, at 228-7884. The MCCS Hobby Shop has facilities for the proper disposal of personal automotive items, such as batteries, filters and oil. Household hazardous waste is accepted at William J. Cooper Environmental Facility, building 1205. In case of petroleum products or hazardous material releases or any substance posing a threat to the environment (Air, land or water) aboard the Air Station or Laurel Bay, please call NREAO at 228-7907/6461/6458 during normal working hours. Call 911 after normal working hours or when in doubt.
