Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort

 Military Housing Office

The mission of housing is to provide the best customer service to the
incoming/outgoing military members assigned to the MCAS Beaufort.

If you're married and are checking in to the Air Station, you must apply for on base housing and supply the appropriate paperwork within 30 days of your report date to this command in order to retain the control date assigned you. A copy of your detaching orders (a copy of your page 3 if you are
currently stationed at MCAS Beaufort), Dependency Application (from SRB/OQR) and custody papers on children from a previous marriage must accompany your application, Privacy Act Release Form, Acceptance of On-Base Housing Form and Pertinent Facts Concerning Housing at MCAS Beaufort

On base housing here varies in size and style.  Units range from 2- bedroom duplexes to 4- bedroom, single family units.  There are two housing areas, one located on MCAS and the other located in Laurel Bay.  Military Housing is now part of a Public/Private Venture (PPV).  Under this venture Military Housing is now being managed by a partner: Tri-Command Communities (TCC)

Waiting times vary depending on the time of year.  Short-term rentals while awaiting on-base housing are not readily available. Leases in the local area typically for a period of six months to one year. Call (843)228-6000/DSN 335-6000 for current wait times.

Cost of community housing (off-base housing) is relatively high in the Beaufort area.  Beaufort is located in close proximity to valuable resort property, and plays host to three military facilities located in a sparsely populated, rural setting.  The Military Housing Office makes available an Off-Base Vacancy Listing of houses, apartments, rooms and condominiums and is updated weekly. Monthly rentals usually start around $500.00 for a small one bedroom.  Be prepared to pay out-of-pocket expense for off-base housing in addition to the Basic Allowance for Housing.

This is particularly true for Junior enlisted families requiring two or more bedrooms, who will face greater out-of-pocket expense.  Also allow for initial expenses in the form of security and pet deposits along with power, water, and phone deposits for off base housing.

Of the 87 officers quarters, 45 are earmarked for field grade officers and the remaining 42 company grade. Enlisted families are allocated 1318 duplex and single family homes.

Family housing units include stove, refrigerator, garbage disposal, dishwashers and washer/dryer hookups.
