Free Tax Preparation Services Information Update

  • Who:     Service members, retirees, and their families.
  • What:    Free preparation assistance and electronic filing for basic state and
                   federal 2011 income tax returns.
  • Where:  BLDG AS-216 2nd (Joint Law Center).
  • When:   17 January to 17 April 2012, TIME- 0730 – 1900 Monday- Thursday.
                  
    Fridays: Appointment only, Single Marines & Sailors walk-in only

In order to receive assistance, patrons must complete a CLIENT INTAKE FORM which includes a checklist of required information and documents (see below). The CLIENT INTAKE FORM is available by CLICKING HERE; copies of the FORM are also available at the Tax Center. Priority services will be provided to patrons who arrive with a completed CLIENT INTAKE FORM and required documentation.

CHILDREN: Tax center will accommodate children but will be limited. (Children must be supervised at all time) The Child Development Center is also available (910-449-6712) for Drop-In Care.

  Required Items: (Click here to print the checklist below)

  • Military ID Card (CAC) with SSN, (if SSN is not present, must have SSN Card)
  • Social Security cards
  • Social Security or ITIN number for all dependents claimed on tax return
  • W-2 (wages or salaries from all employment during the year)
  • Disability Income
  • Interest from checking or saving account, bonds, CD, or brokerage account
  • State tax refund (if itemized last year)
  • Alimony income
  • Pension and/or IRA distribution (1099)
  • Unemployment
  • Social Security or Rail way Retirement
  • Self Employment
  • Other Income such as gambling winnings, awards, prizes and Jury duty
  • Education expenses (1098T)
  • Home mortgage payments (1098)
  • Charitable contributions
  • Child/dependent care expenses (Child care provider ID or SSN)
  • Estimated tax payments
  • Amounts of other income
  • Bank Account Information to electronically file tax return (voided check or deposit slip)
  • Social Security card for spouse married during year 2011
  • Power of Attorney if filing a joint return if spouse is not present
  • Social Security or ITIN number for all dependents claimed on tax return
  • Dividend information
  • All rental property information if claiming rental income
  • Last year's Tax Return
  • For State Tax Return, County and School District
  • Any Information you think will help properly prepare your tax return
  • Insurance premium for mortgage

Note:
• Tax Center — Located in AS216 on the East side of the Joint Law Center, next to MAG-26.

You can still get your taxes done for FREE by visiting Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune Tax Center which is open year round.
