Mission Statement
Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Base was formed through a consolidation of Headquarters Battalion and Support Battalion, Camp Lejeune on 1 September 1945. The current table of organization calls for approximately 1,400 Marines and sailors.
The Battalion’s mission is to provide support to Marines, Sailors, and other designated personnel of the Battalion as stipulated in the following: administrative, to include legal, religious and MCCS affairs; operation, to include disaster preparedness, ceremonial details, and individual training, except MOS training for FAP Marines; logistical, to include supply, maintenance management, second echelon small arms repair, billeting, and messing, except messing for the Brig. To act as the Area Commander for the Central and Industrial Areas of Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. To act as a separations command in the Camp Lejeune area for all Marines returning from overseas and to provide appropriate support for Marines returning from a deserter status and long term prisoners.
The high standards of performance and excellence expected and achieved by Headquarters and Support Battalion Marines and Sailors are best expressed in the Marines Corps Base motto: “Service and Support to the Fleet Marines Force.”
