Commanding Officer

LtCol Monclova was born in Cristol, Panama to Col Irving and Irma Moncloava, USA. He graduated from Sayer High School, Lexington KY. LtCol Moncloava graduated from Purdue University, West Lafayette IN with a degree in history. He had attended OCS and received his commission upon graduation. 2DLT Monclova attended the Basic School, Infantry Officer's Course and the LAV Leaders Course.

He was assigned as 2D Platoon Commander, Bravo Company, 2D Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. He served as a rifle platoon commander while deployed as a Rifle Security Company, Rodman Naval Station, Panama and attended the Jungle Warfare School. Upon return to the U.S. he served as the Executive Officer for Bravo Company, 2D LAR Bn. During 1997 he served as the LAR Detachment Commander assigned to UNITAS. After the 5-month deployment 1STLT Monclova served as the 2D LAR Bn S-3A and attend the Army's Cavalry Leaders course.

Capt Monclova was assigned to Marine Barracks Ground Defense/Security Force, Guantannamo Bay, Cuba as Company Commander, Windward Rifle Security Company and participated in various migrant operations and interdicitions of Cuban asylum seekers. Capt Monclova folded the flag of Windward Company as the Barrack's began its process of de-activation.

Capt Monclova is a distinguished graduate from Amphibious Warfare School, served as a summer augmentee as 2D Platoon Commander for Bravo Company, Officer Candidate School. He then served again with 2D LAR Bn as the S-3A for 6 months, during which he attended the Winter Warfare Leaders Course in Norway and participated in Exercise Battle Griffin 2001. Upon return to the U.S. he took command of Alpha Company, 2D LAR Bn, and participated in combat operations during the invasion of Iraq under Operation Iraqi Freedom while his Battalion was attached to 1ST Marine Regiment and later, Task Force Tripoli.

Upon return to CONUS, Capt Monclova was frocked to Major, got married and was sent to Colombia as the USMC Representative to the Colombian Marine Corps, U.S. Military Group, Bogota.

Maj Monclova then commanded Recruiting Station Orlando, FL, graduated from the Command and Staff College and has been selected to Command Weapons Training Battalion, Camp Lejeune.

LtCol Monclova has a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Troy State and a Masters in Military Studies from Marine Corps University.
