Security guard duty opens many doors

Quantico, VA. In 1946, the Foreign Service Act authorized the secretary of the Navy to assign Marines to U.S. diplomatic posts overseas. Since that time, Marines have worked with the Department of State to protect classified information and serve American travelers abroad in time of crisis.
Marine Corps Embassy Security Group is where prospective candidates are screened and trained to prepare for security guard duty. Once they complet school, Marines are launched on a three-year tour of duty where they will be assigned to a minimum of three countries.

Marine Security Guard saves man's life after hippo attack

ARLINGTON, Va. — “It all started with an early [canoe ride] up the Zambezi River,” said Cpl. Justin Trinidad, a Marine security guard with Detachment Harare, Zimbabwe, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group.
The day that began with a simple tour ended with Trinidad saving the life of another man on the safari after the group was attacked by a hippopotamus March 14.
