MCESG - RAST Mission

The Marine Security Guard Recruiting, Advertising, and Screening Team’s (RAST) focus is to promote the Marine Security Guard Program throughout the Marine Corps. We are here to help the individual Marine start their path for success within the Marine Corps as a Marine Security Guard. We are also available to answer questions as well as provide knowledge and experience about MSG life that you may have.

As we continue to post Marines throughout the world at Diplomatic Missions, the future of the MSG Program includes new post activations and continuing our honorable service with the Department of State. The Marine Security Guard Program allows Diplomatic Missions to conduct diplomacy abroad in a safe environment.

We are commonly referred to as the “Hidden Jewel” or "Best Kept Secret in the Marine Corps," and we pride ourselves as being one of the best duties in the Marine Corps.

The benefits of becoming an MSG range from receiving a Top Secret security clearance to accelerated promotions and secondary education opportunities. The added benefit of living overseas at one of our various 150 plus U.S. Embassies and Consulates is a personally and professionally rewarding experience exclusive to MSGs.

Due to the unique mission of Marine Security Guards, each individual pursuing MSG Duty must be personally screened by a representative from the RAST. We travel to every Marine Corps Base worldwide, so ensure you take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about MSG by attending any MSG brief at your base.

For any Marine who has their Phase I done, contact the RAST right away. While we prefer to screen Marines in person, we are only able to visit each Marine Corps Base every few months. Do not miss out on this opportunity; we have a Marine on duty standing by 24 hours a day to screen Marines.

Marine Security Guards have been protecting American Embassies for over sixty years and will continue this mission for many generations to come. Are you ready to carry on this legacy? How far will you go?

It’s your career grab hold of it!

Contact your Career Planner and inform him/her that you are interested in becoming a Marine Security Guard.
