Region 4 CO - Lieutenant Colonel Brad Bartelt , USMC
Lieutenant Colonel Brad Bartelt was born on 21 June 1965 in Muscatine, IA. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1989 with a BA in Broadcast and Print Journalism. Upon graduation he spent two years working in broadcasting for KGAN-TV, Cedar Rapids, IA. He graduated from the Officer Candidate School in April of 1991 and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Following training at The Basic School (TBS), he began his first assignment as the Deputy Director for Public Affairs, Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, CA.
He has served as the Aide-de-Camp for Commander Marine Corps Air Bases West; Public Affairs Officer for Base Realignment and Closure, El Toro, CA; Director of Public Affairs and Community Plans and Liaison Officer, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA; Deputy Director for Public Affairs, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton CA; Director Of Entertainment Liaison, Los Angeles, CA; III Marine Expeditionary Force and Marine Corps Bases Japan Public Affairs Officer, Okinawa, Japan; Special Assistant for Public Affairs to the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; the Pentagon, Washington DC; and Assistant Chief of Staff for Advertising, Marine Corps Recruiting Command, Quantico, VA.
LtCol Bartelt participated in the humanitarian assistance operations for Provide Relief in Somalia, and Tsunami relief operations in Indonesia, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. He was the Media Operations Officer and spokesperson for Operation Iraqi Freedom, Central Command Forward in Doha, Qatar.
He is a graduate of the Public Affairs Officer Course (Honor Graduate), Defense Information School; the Amphibious Warfare School, Quantico, VA; the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Quantico, VA; and the Joint Forces Staff College, PME-II (Joint Officer Qualified), Norfolk, VA. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in October 2006.
LtCol Bartelt was command screened and selected for command. On 2 August 2010 he takes command of Region 4, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group where he is currently assigned.
Region 4 - First Sergeant Misitupa Tueichi, USMC
First Sergeant Tueichi was born in American Samoa on February 03, 1972. He graduated from Tafuna High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps on December 30, 1991. Upon completion of recruit training at San Diego, California, Private Tueichi attended the School of Infantry in Camp Pendleton, California. Upon completion of his primary Military Occupational School, he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines in Twenty-nine Palms, California, as a rifleman, Squad automatic rifleman and Squad Leader.
In January 1996, First Sergeant Tueichi received orders to Marine Security Guard School. Upon completion of school he was assigned to the American Embassy in Bamako, Mali, West Africa and the America Embassy Paris France as a watch stander.
In September 1999 he was reassigned as the assistant detachment commander to the United States Interest Section in Havana, Cuba where he was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant and got reassigned as a Detachment Commander to the American Embassy in Panama City, Panama. In February 2000, First Sergeant Tueichi received orders to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he was assigned as a Platoon Commander and Platoon Sergeant. In November 2003, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.
In January 2004, First Sergeant Tueichi requested orders to Drill Instructor School, San Diego, California. Upon completion of school he was assigned duties as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Series Gunnery Sergeant with 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Charlie Company. He was promoted to First Sergeant in February 2007 and received orders to 1st Battalion, 4th Marines where he is currently the Company First Sergeant for Company B.
His personal awards include the Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
