
First Sergeant Chaplin currently serves as the First Sergeant, Marine Corps Information Operations Center.
First Sergeant Chaplin was born in Medford, New York. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 1 April 1996. Upon completion of recruit and combat training, First Sergeant Chaplin reported to Goodfellow Air Force Base, San Angelo, TX for Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Specialist training.
In November 1996, First Sergeant Chaplin was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 271, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC. While assigned to MWSS 271, he served as: Fire Fighter, Crew Chief, Senior Rescue Man, Training Non Commissioned Officer (NCO) and Section Leader.
In November 1999 he was reassigned to ARFF, MWSS 171, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan. While assigned to MWSS 171, First Sergeant Chaplin served as Section Leader and Material Chief.
In September 2002, First Sergeant Chaplin reported to Recruit Training Regiment, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA for training and follow on assignment to Company M, 3d Recruit Training Battalion where he served as Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Series Gunnery Sergeant, and Standard Operating Procedures Instructor and Squad Instructor, Drill Instructor School.
In June 2006, First Sergeant Chaplin reported for duty to ARFF, MWSS 373, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA. While assigned to the ARFF section, he deployed as Non Commissioned Officer in Charge, ARFF Det, Camp Ar Ramadi, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07. Upon return from deployment in Apr 2007, he was reassigned as First Sergeant, Airfield Operations Company, MWSS 373. First Sergeant Chaplin deployed as the Company First Sergeant for a detachment of Marines attached to MWSS 273 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 08.2. While assigned to MWSS 373, First Sergeant Chaplin was promoted to his current rank.
In July 2009, First Sergeant Chaplin reported to Headquarters Marine Corps for duty as Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Marine Corps Information Operations Center.
