NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE MARINE CORPS 19 January 2012— The Marine Corps Information Operations Center (MCIOC) conducted its first Change of Command Ceremony (COC) at the National Museum of the Marine Corps 19 January at 1530. The transfer of command from Colonel James P. Gfrerer to Colonel Christopher L. VISION

The MCIOC will establish IO as a valued and critical element of combined arms.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Marine Corps Information Operations Center provides the Marine Air Ground Task Force commanders and the Marine Corps a responsive and effective full-spectrum IO planning and Military Information Support Operations (MISO) delivery capability by means of deployable support teams and a comprehensive general support IO reach-back capability in order to support integration of IO into Marine Corps operations

U.S. MARINE CORPS DEFINITION OF INFORMATION OPERATIONS

Information Operations (IO) include all actions taken to affect enemy information and information systems while defending friendly information and information systems. IO are focused on the adversary's key decision-makers and are conducted during all phases of an operation, across the range of military operations, and at every level of war.
