Mr. Kent D. Morrison

LtCol USMC (Ret) Mr. Morrison joined the USMC in June of 1974 and was designated a 0311 Infantryman upon graduation as an honor graduate from Parris Island, South Carolina. In December of 1974 he reported to the Marine Detachment, USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) where he served as a “Sea-Going Marine” until December 1976. He then reported to 1stBn2ndMar, 2d Marine Division for duty as a Squad Leader in a Rifle Company until he was discharged from the USMC in June of 1977. He attended Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, Georgia, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Commercial Art.
Mr. Morrison was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in August 1983 upon graduation from Officer Candidate School, Quantico, Virginia. Upon completion of the Basic School, Quantico, Virginia, in April 1984, he reported to the Ground Supply Officer's Course at Camp Johnson, North Carolina. His first assignment was as the Supply Officer for MWSS-271, MWSG-27, 2d MAW, Cherry Point, North Carolina, from June 1984 to April 1987. He served as the Supply Officer for HQBN, 3d Marine Division, Camp Courtney, Okinawa, from May 1987 to May 1988.
He then reported to Parris Island, South Carolina, where he served as Series Commander, 1st Recruit Training Battalion and as the Commanding Officer, Headquarters Company, Weapons Training Battalion, MCRD, Parris Island from June 1988 to June 1991.
He attended Amphibious Warfare School from August 1991 to June 1992.
At the 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2D FSSG, Camp Lejeune, he served as the Supply Officer, S-4 Officer, and the Executive Officer from August 1992 until June 1996. In October of 1994 he made a lateral move to the occupational field as a Logistics Officer and attended the Logistics Officers Course.
Mr. Morrison deployed twice to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, from March 1995 to April 1996 in support of JTF-160 during OPERATION SEA SIGNAL. He served first as the Commanding Officer, Combat Service Support Detachment 61, and then second as the Joint Movement Control Officer, J-4 JTF Headquarters and the J-3 of the Joint Logistics Support Group.
He attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, from June 1996 to June 1997 at which time he reported to MCLB, Albany, GA, where he served as the Executive Officer and eventually the Commanding Officer of Headquarters Battalion, MCLB from September 1998 to June 2000. He then reported to the Marine Corps Materiel Command as the Deputy Director, Plans Division. Following his promotion to LtCol, he was assigned as the Executive Officer of the Marine Corps Logistics Base. In March of 2002 he was ordered to report to United States Marine Forces, United States Central Command for duty with the Joint Operations Center in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. He retired on 1 Nov 2003. Following his retirement, he has served in various billets aboard Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, to include, Director, Marine Corps Community Services, Logistics Specialist, Marine Corps Logistics Command and Deputy Director, MCLB Operations and Training Division.
He has also attended the Advanced Logistics Officers Course, Quantico, Virginia, and the U.S. Army Airborne School. His personal decorations include: the Meritorious Service Medal (2), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4) and the Army Commendation Medal.
