Sergeant MajorAndrew Yagle
Depot Sergeant Major

Sergeant Major Andrew Yagle was born on Sept. 7, 1961 in Miami, Florida. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 1979. Upon graduation from Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina as a Meritorious PFC and Plt. Honorman, PFC Yagle attended Motor Transport Operator School at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and was then assigned to Truck Company, Headquarters Battalion, 2d Marine Division.

PFC Yagle was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal in March 1980 and later meritoriously promoted to Corporal in July 1980. Corporal Yagle was attached to Marine Service Support Group 34 and deployed as a member of Landing Force Sixth Fleet. Corporal Yagle was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant in December of 1981.

In March of 1982 Sergeant Yagle reported to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon graduation he reported to “A” Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion and worked seven platoons as a Drill Instructor, completing a successful tour in June of 1984.

Sergeant Yagle was transferred to Wing Transportation Squadron, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan. In July of 1985 he was assigned to Inspector/Instructor duty with Wing Transportation Squadron-47, Detachment Bravo, 4th Marine Aircraft wing, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sergeant Yagle served as a Medium Section Leader, Safety Noncommissioned Officer, and Motor Transport Operator Instructor.

Sergeant Yagle was promoted to Staff Sergeant in October 1988 and attended the Staff Noncommissioned Officer Career Course at Quantico, Virginia.

In May 1989 Staff Sergeant Yagle was assigned to the Advance Motor Transportation Course at Camp Johnson, North Carolina. Staff Sergeant Yagle then received orders to Truck Company, Headquarters Battalion, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina serving for one year as a Platoon Sergeant.

Staff Sergeant Yagle was then assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, 2d Marine Division, as the Battalion Motor Transport Operations Chief. While assigned, staff Sergeant Yagle participated in Operations Desert Shield/Storm and later deployed to the Persian Gulf with the 22nd MEU.

Staff Sergeant Yagle reported to Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina as a course challenger. He graduated in April 1993 and reported to “C” Company 1st Recruit Training Battalion where he was assigned as a Senior Drill Instructor for four training cycles and one cycle as a series Gunnery Sergeant. He was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in January 1995. Following an assignment as an instructor at Drill Instructor School, Gunnery Sergeant Yagle was once again assigned to Truck Company Headquarters Battalion, as company Truckmaster in August 1996.

Promoted to First Sergeant in May of 1999, he was assigned as the Company First Sergeant for Truck Company, he was reassigned to ‘F’ Company, 2d Battalion, 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division in September of 1999. During his tour 1st Sergeant Yagle deployed to the Mediterranean Sea as a member of the 24th MEU followed by a deployment to the Persian Gulf as a member of the 22nd MEU and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Following his selection and subsequent promotion to the rank of Sergeant Major, he was assigned as Recruiting Station Sergeant Major, Albany NY. in March of 2003. SgtMaj Yagle was then assigned in February 2006 as the SgtMaj, 26th MEU, II MEF, Camp Lejeune, NC where he deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

He assumed his current billet as the Marine Corps Recruit Depot/Eastern Recruiting Region SgtMaj in June of 2008.

Sergeant Major Yagle’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star, the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars and combat “V” and Combat Action Ribbon.
