| Located aboard Camp Geiger, North Carolina, Marine Combat Training Battalion (MCT), Infantry Training Battalion (ITB), Advanced Infantry Training Battalion (AITB), and Headquarters and Support Battalion (H&S) fall under the Commanding Officer of the School of Infantry –East (SOI-East). These subordinate commands train and support Marines at the entry-level, and the advanced level in warrior skills. SOI-East's training mission ensures "Every Marine is, first and foremost, a rifleman!" |

At SOI-East, Marines who have the infantry military occupational specialty (MOS) conduct training at ITB. Marines that have the non-infantry MOS are trained in basic infantry/Marine common skills at MCT. SOI-East marks a transition in the military professional development of entry level Marines, from recruit to entry level Marine rifle squad member. |

| Whether learning in a classroom, or conducting live-fire evolutions, the focus at SOI-East is training Marines to be warriors on the battlefield. SOI-East requires the best and most professional leaders in the Marine Corps to accomplish this mission. Our Marine Combat Instructors form the bedrock of our success and ensure the conduct of realistic, aggressive, and safe training. The Marine Combat Instructors at SOI –East provide continuity and consistency in the continuum of training and mentoring of entry-level Marines. |

First instructed at Parris-Island South Carolina, Marine ethos are reinforced and improved upon at SOI-East. Our core values of “Honor, Courage and Commitment” are lessons learned from Marines that have served our nation for more than two centuries. Marines have always secured our nation’s liberties and freedoms beginning with the American Revolution to Iraq and Afghanistan of today. Marines that attend SOI-East are prepared mentally, physically, and morally for the challenges of 21st Century warfare. |
