COLONEL KEVIN T WOOLEY BIO

Colonel Wooley, a native of Columbus, Ohio, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wheeling Jesuit College in 1985 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in August of 1986. After completion of The Basic School and The Infantry Officer Course, Colonel Wooley was assigned to 2d Battalion, 9th Marines as a Rifle Platoon Commander, Heavy Machine Gun Platoon Commander, and Weapons Company Executive Officer.

In 1990, he was transferred to Marine Corps Security Force Company, Naval Submarine Base, Bangor, WA where he served as Platoon Commander and Guard Company Commander. From 1993-1994, he attended the Infantry Officer Advanced Course at Fort Benning, GA. In 1994 he joined 2d Battalion, 8th Marines at Camp Lejeune, NC and served as Assistant Operations Officer and Rifle Company Commander.

From 1997-2000, he was assigned to Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, CA as the Infantry Representative and Operations Officer for the Tactical Training and Exercise Control Group.

From 2000-2001, he attended Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, VA, and was awarded a Master of Military Studies. After completing Command and Staff, he served as Operations Officer for the Sixth Marine Regiment. In June of 2002, he assumed duties as the 26th MEU (SOC) Operations Officer and served in Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, and JTF Liberia.

From December 2003 to July 2006, Colonel Wooley Commanded Marine Combat Training Battalion, School of Infantry (East). From 2006-2007 he attended the Naval War College and was awarded a Masters of National Security and Strategic Studies. From June 2007-June 2008 he served in USNAVCENT as the Fleet Marine Officer and Director, Future Plans Center. He most recently was the AC/S G-3 at Marine Special Operations Command. His personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.

He is married to the former Anne Plagenz of Columbus, Ohio. They have two children, Kelly (20) and Charlie (16).
