Lieutenant Colonel Forkin, a native of Cherry Hill, New Jersey was commissioned a Second Lieutenant via the platoon Leaders Class-Ground Program in May of 1993 after receiving his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Villanova University.
He then attended Villanova University School of Law, receiving his Jurist Doctorate in May of 1996. That Same year, he was admitted to the Bar of the State of New Jersey an the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
After completion of The Basic School and Naval Justice School in Newport, Rohde Island, Lieutenant Colonel Forkin was assigned to the office of Staff Judge Advocate, Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Virginia. He served in a variety of judge advocate billets to include legal assistance attorney, trial attorney, and operational law attorney.
In August if 2000, he was transferred to the U.S. Naval Academy, where he served as a Military Law and leadership instructor. In the fall of 2002, he returned to law school as a full-time student while continuing to serve as an instructor at the U.S. naval Academy. In the summer of 2003, he received his Masters of Law in International and Comparative Law from the George Washington University School of Law.
In July of 2003, Lieutenant Colonel Forkin was assigned as the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific Command and U.s. Marine Corps Forces, Central Command to Bangladesh, Iraq, Japan, the republic of Korea, Kuwait, the Republic of the Philippines, and Thailand. He served as the Judge Advocate for Regimental Combat Team-1 during Operation Iraqi Freedom II-2 and the Battle of Fallujah.
He then attended Marine Corps Command and Staff College in 2006, earning a Masters of Military Studies. From 2007-2009, he served as the Staff Judge Advocate for the Marine Corps Recruiting Command.
From August of 2009 to April of 2011, Lieutenant Colonel Forkin was assigned as the Officer in-charge of the legal Support Section 1st Marine Logistics Group. In June of 2011, he assumed command of Headquaters and Support Battalion, School of Infantry West. His personal Decorations Include the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and the Combat Action Ribbon. |
