SERGEANT MAJOR JERRY D. TAYLOR
Sergeant Major Jerry D. Taylor is a native of Tallulah, Louisiana. He enlisted in was born in the U. S. Marines Coprs in January of 1991 and reported to Marine Corps Depot San Diego, California. Upon graduation of recruit training in 1991, Sergeant Major , then Private First Class Taylor transffeered to Camp Pendleton for Marine Combat Training.
Upon Completion of Marine Combat Training in June if 1991, He Transfered to Meridian, Mississippi to his Military Occupational Speciality School. In September of 1991, Sergeant Major, Then Private First Class Taylor reported to his first duty station, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. Assigned to MALS-32, MAG-32 Aviation Supply as an Aviation Supply Accounting clerk, one month later he was promoted to Lance Corporal.
In November of 1992 LCPL Taylor deployed to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan MALS-12, MAG-12 for six months as an Aviation Supply accounting clerk. He was promoted to Corporal during the deployment. He redeployed back to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point but to a diffrernt MALS, MALS-14, MAG-14 because of the disbandment of MALS-32. After two years at MALS-14, MAG-14 Corporal Taylor was assigned as the Aviation Supply Accounting Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of Optar Functional Category 50. He was promoted to Sergeant and requested orders to Drill Instructor School at MCRD San Diego in 1996.
After Graduating from Drill Instructor School, Sergeant Taylor was assigned Third Battalion Kilo Company where he served as a drill instructor and senior drill instructor. He was promoted to the rank o Staff Sergeant in December of 1999. After a sucessful completion of Drill Instructor duty, he received orders to Marine Coprs Air Station Miramar, California MALS-16, MAG-16. He was assigned as the Fiscal Cheif for MAG-16 then went back to MALS-16 as the Repairable Warehouse Staff Noncommissioned Officer in charge.
After eighteen months at MALS-16, Gunnery Sergeant select Taylor received accompany orders back to Marines Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan MAG-12, MALS-12. Gunnery Sergeant Taylor was assigned to MALS-12 as the Repairable Warehouse Staff Noncommissioned Officer in charge for a year and was selected to be the Fiscal Cheif for MAG-12.
In July of 2005 he received Orders to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar to MAG-11, MALS-11 and was assigned the Staff Noncommissioned Officer in charge of the Consumables Management Division. Later that year he was elected to First Sergeant. Upon frocking, Sergeant Major Taylor was transferred to 3rd LAAD Battalion. Other tours as a First Sergeant include General Support Maintenance Company, 3rd Maintenance Battalion, Combat Logistic Regiment 35, 3rd Medical Battalion, Combat Logistic Regiment 35, Mortor Transportaion Maintenance Company, and 3rd Maintenance Battalion Combat Logistic Regiment 35.
Upon Selection to Sergeant Major in October of 2010, Sergeant Major Taylor received orders to the School of Infantry West , Camp Pendleton, California where he currently serves as the Battalion Sergeant Major for Infantry Training Battalion.
Sergeant Major Awards include The Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal with two gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Achieevement Medal with three Gold stars.
