Lieutenant Colonel Gresser is a native of Deer Park, New York. He is a 1992 graduate from the State University of New York, Old Westbury College with an undergraduate degree in American Studies, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant through the PLC program.
After completion of the Marine Officers Basic School in Quantico Virginia and subsequent training as an Artillery Officer at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, LtCol Gresser was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 12th Marines in Okinawa, Japan. While there, he served with Battery “L” as a Forward Observer, Guns Platoon Commander and Executive Officer, as well as Battalion Fire Direction Officer/Assistant Operations Officer, and finished this tour as Headquarters Battery Commander.
In 1997 LtCol Gresser was transferred to 1st Supply Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, after completing the Ground Supply Officers Course at Camp Johnson, NC. While assigned to 1st Supply Battalion he served as the Officer-in-Charge of Deployed Support Unit and the Battalion Operations Officer.
Upon completing his tour with 1st FSSG in 2000, he was assigned to 5th Battalion, 11th Marines where he served as the Fire Support Coordinator with 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, Commander Officer, Battery “S” and Battalion S-4.
In 2004 LtCol Gresser transitioned to the Select Marine Corps Reserve and served with 3rd Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO). In 2005 he was mobilized to serve with 2nd ANGLICO as 2nd Brigade Platoon Commander in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During this deployment he was in direct support of the 155th Brigade Combat Team operating from Forward Operating Base Kalsu. Upon his return he continued to serve with 3rd ANGLICO as the MAGTF Plans Officer from 2006 to 2008. His last assignment prior to assuming command of Mobilization Training Battalion was as the Staff Secretary for Marine Corps Installations West.
LtCol Gresser has completed Amphibious Warfare School, Field Artillery Advanced Course, Command and Staff College, and holds a Master of Business Administration from University of Redlands.
