31st MEU Begins Engineer Projects in Palawan

For the duration of approximately two weeks, Marines and Sailors with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit's combat logistics element will conduct two engineer civil affairs projects at the elementary schools of of Mascarascas and Tagburos. With the installation of a new septic tank and leech field at one school and the construction of an outdoor seating area at the other, the quality of health and education will improve for the children and teachers alike. The ENCAP projects are part of the 31st MEU's Amphibious Landing Exercise, now in its 29th iteration, where U.S. forces work and train alongside their Filipino counterparts. Soundbite includes Joy Aguilar - Principal of the Tagburos Elementary School. Suggested Lead: Kicking off the humanitarian assistance project portion of the yearly Amphibious Landing Exercise, Marines and Sailors of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit begin the operations of two construction projects for elementary schools in Palawan, Philippines.
