Combat Engineers with Marine Wing Support Squadron 373, Special Purpose MAGTF - Crisis Response - Central Command train to proof areas such as roads and runways to ensure there are no improvised explosive devices or other dangers in the area. The Marines with MWSS-373 are always ready to respond in the U.S. Central Command area of operations.

Marines learn survival skills during an Improvised Explosive Device training exercise as part of the Mountain Warfare Training exercise in Bridgeport, Calif, Aug. 19-Sept. 9, 2017. Mountain Warfare Training is a field exercise designed to teach Marines fighting tactics and survival skills in high altitudes and cold weather. Marines assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 271 conduct counter improvised explosive device training at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., August 3, 2017. Nearly 30 Marines participated in the weeklong training event to improve their counter IED skills. This training prepares Marines for IED threats they may face when deployed in a combat zone. Marines assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 271 conduct counter-improvised explosive device training during the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course 2-17 near Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz., April 14, 2017. This training educated the Marines on how to properly identify IEDs and the steps to take after finding one. WTI is a seven week training course hosted by Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1 designed to provide standardized advanced tactical training and certification of unit instructor qualifications that support Marine Aviation training and readiness and to provide assistance in the development and employment of aviation weapons and tactics. Staff Sgt. Colin White, an explosive ordnance disposal technician with Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Central Command, recreates improvised explosive devices currently used by enemy forces in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. Utilizing hardware-using software to duplicate IEDs enables technicians to develop effective ways to counter these IEDs and understand their configuration, ultimately enhancing the level of training and increasing readiness within the SPMAGTF.
