SUBJ/MARINE CORPS PHYSICAL FITNESS PROGRAM//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  I have recently released Marine Corps Order 6100.14 “Marine Corps Physical Fitness Program (MCPFP)”.  This Order provides my vision for physical fitness across all levels of the Corps.  This Order does not replace any existing orders related to physical fitness, but rather it synchronizes all of our efforts for improving physical fitness aimed at treating Marines as warrior athletes.
2.  The MCPFP provides a comprehensive approach to total fitness, while integrating the Marine Corps martial arts, water survival, general and occupational fitness, nutrition, and Sports Medicine and Injury Prevention programs in order to improve the overall health, physical fitness, and combat readiness of individual Marines and units.  It is designed to provide commanders, small unit leaders, and individual Marines the tools they need to develop and execute fitness programs which are founded on modern science, functionally based, and take a total approach to fitness, injury prevention, and recovery.
3.  The main effort of the MCPFP and my bid for success are unit physical fitness programs.  Unit fitness programs will take a comprehensive approach towards fitness, and consist of instructional periods on health, wellness, fitness, nutrition, flexibility, injury prevention, rest, and recovery.  They will also include prescribed periods of aerobic and anaerobic physical activity intended to increase the endurance, strength, mobility, and resiliency of individual Marines and the unit as a whole.  The focus of effort for the MCPFP and these programs is the individual Marine.
4.  We will support the main effort with organizational Force Fitness Instructors, existing programs such as the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program and the Sports Medicine Injury Prevention Program, and with assets beyond the unit commander's organic capabilities such as the Semper Fit Program, the Fitness Operational Advisory Group, and the Force Fitness Division.
5.  Commanders and officers-in-charge at all levels are responsible for executing my vision by developing, implementing, and executing holistic unit physical fitness programs utilizing all supporting efforts of the MCPFP.
6.  Semper Fidelis, Robert B. Neller, General, U.S. Marine Corps, Commandant of the Marine Corps.//
