GENTEXT/RMKS/1.  Congratulations to the winner, finalists, and all innovators of the 4th Qtr, FY-18 CMCs Innovation Challenge. Force Protection Integration Division (FPID) received 68 submissions from Marines, Sailors, and government civilians.
2.  Following this notification, FPID will contact the challenge winner and category finalists to discuss the process for implementing proposals.  The initial meeting will involve refining the proposals and developing a plan of action and milestones.
The challenge winner will be invited to Marine Corps Base Quantico and personally recognized by the Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC), Deputy Commandant, Combat Development and Integration (DC, CDI), and Commanding General, Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory/Futures Directorate.  3.  The Innovation Challenge winner (category, name, unit, idea title):  Dismounted Detection, Captain Ryan S. Sutherland, Marine Corps Cyber Warfare Group, Unmanned Aerial System for the Corps Squad System Operator.
4.  The Innovation Challenge finalists (category, name, unit, idea title):
4.A.  Mounted Neutralization, Staff Sergeant Jared J. Maxwell, 3d Battalion, 23d Marine Regiment, Javelin-Swarm/Saber-Swarm.
4.B.  Counter Defensive Threats, Warrant Officer Trevor J. Hicks, 7th Engineer Support Battalion, Unmanned Underwater Vehicle/Unmanned Surface Vehicle employment by Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Recon.
4.C.  Counter Offensive Threats, Captain Warren W. Choi, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Security Sensors for Base Defense.
4.D.  Autonomy in Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUMT), Captain John G.Martin and Sergeant Christopher J. Upton , Wounded Warrior Battalion East, Adaptive Mobile Optic Sensor (AMOS).

5.  Funding for travel involving the Innovation Challenge winner will be provided by DC, CDI.
6.  Submissions not selected by FPID will be available for appropriate Headquarters Marine Corps agencies for further consideration.
7.  The complete schedule for the FY-19 CMC Innovation Challenges is currently in staffing and will be released at a future date.
