A Spanish Marine amphibious assault vehicle disembarks the well deck of the Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry for an exercise. The Marines are part of the international forces participating in the Baltic Operations 2019 exercise. BALTOPS is an annual joint, multinational maritime-focused exercised. It is designed to improve training for participants, enhance flexibility and interoperability, and demonstrate resolve among allied and partner forces in defending the Baltic Sea region.
