U.S. Marines with Battalion Landing Team 2/5, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, execute boat formations during a boat raid training exercise on Kin Blue, Okinawa, Japan, June 29, 2022. The exercise was conducted to improve communication between the ground combat element and additional supporting units that may assist them in potential rea-world situations fostering a more efficient and cohesive unit. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
