From Hiroshima Airport to MCAS Iwakuni : How to get to MCAS Iwakuni
- Exit the plane and enter the International Arrival Lobby. You will go through Immigration and baggage pick-up. If you need English speaking assistance of any kind, go to Airport Information Desk.

- Proceed to the Domestic Arrival Lobby and make a left once outside baggage claim. Look for bus ticket machines.

- You will see ticket vending machines for the airport shuttle bus. Press the "English" button in the lower right corner of the ticket machine.

- Purchase a one-way ticket to Hiroshima for 1300 yen. (Another option is to take the airport bus to the JR Shiraichi Station and then take the local train to Iwakuni Train Station. Please click here to see the instruction.)

- Exit the terminal out the front door and stand next to Bus Stop 2. The bus schedule is pictured right.

- Take the "Airport Limousine" bus with the Hiroshima Station sign. You can stow luggage in the storage compartment of the bus.

- The bus will take you to the Hiroshima Shin and local train station. Traveling time is approximately 50-60 minutes. After arriving at the Hiroshima Train Station, exit the bus and look for the "Underground Passage Entrance" sign. The passage is located in front of the train station.

- Take the stairs underneath the train station and follow the tunnel approximately 100 yards until you come to a blue "JR Entrance" sign. Take a left down this passageway until you come to the ticket machine.

- At the grey ticket machines, purchase a ticket for 740 yen. Once the appropriate amount of yen has been put into the machine, the lights on the buttons will illuminate. The 740 Yen button is in the upper right corner. Do not lose your train ticket. You will need to give it to the ticket attendant at Iwakuni Station.

- Once you have purchased your ticket, show it to the clerk at the booth to be stamped. Look at the sign overhead and find the local Iwakuni train.

- Make your way to Track 1 and wait for the next train to arrive. Once upstairs, look for the large number 1 overhead to ensure you are at the correct track.

- The overhead sign will cycle through Japanese and English. The next train's arrival time will be posted on this sign.

- Take the local train to the Iwakuni station. Train ride lasts approximately one hour. Once you exit the train, go up the stairs and out the west exit.

- Look for the exit sign once you have crossed over the railroad tracks.
- Hand your train ticket to the clerk at the exit.

- Once you exit the train station, look for the cabs sitting out front. Enter the nearest cab and ask the driver to take you to the Iwakuni Marine Corps Base. The drivers will know where to take you. Cab fare is about 1,200 Yen.
