The Commandant of the Marine Corps serves as the highest-ranking officer in the United States Marine Corps and is a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Appointed by the President of the United States with Senate confirmation, the Commandant is responsible for ensuring the U.S. Marine Corps is manned, trained, and equipped to remain America's force in readiness.
