Chief facing court-martial found dead

7 Aug 2003 | Capt. Michael S. Braibish

A chief master sergeant facing a court-martial was found dead here Aug 7.

Winfred B. Harrison, from the 374th Civil Engineer Squadron, failed to appear for court-martial proceedings, prompting a search by base and law enforcement officials. A squadron member found the chief's body in one of the squadron buildings.

Harrison had been charged with violating various articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice including Article 86, Absence without Leave; Article 93, Maltreatment; Article 128, Assault; and Article 134, the general article, specifically for both indecent acts and obstructing justice.

During pre-trial proceedings this week, the presiding judge heard arguments regarding what would have been allowed as evidence.

The cause of death is under investigation. (Courtesy of Pacific Air Forces News Service)
