AFMC establishes suspense to complete transition–civilian development plan

31 Jan 2007 |

The Air Force Materiel Command's General Schedule-13 (GS-13) acquisition program managers have until Feb. 6 to complete their automated civilian development plan for this year's cycle. The suspense also applies to former GS-13, GS-14 or equivalent employees who converted to NSPS pay band YA/YC2 on or before Jan. 21.

Also known as transition-civilian development plan, or T-CDP, this program is a Privacy Act and secure web-based tool that enables Air Force civilians to identify their future career goals and development opportunity preferences. An employee uses the plan in this system to open a dialogue about her/his future career with her/his supervisor and endorser.

Although voluntary, T-CDP is an important first step toward directly impacting each member's future, according to Dominique Myers, Resource Management Division Chief, Headquarters AFMC Intelligence and Requirements Directorate (A2/5).

"It's (T-CDP) an ideal 'win-win' situation," said Ms. Myers. "By making career goals and desires known, senior leaders have the opportunity to view each employee's plan and make precise recommendations tied to his or her career development."

By completing a T-CDP and having it on file with Headquarters AFMC A2/5, civilians are considered for: tuition assistance and long term degree programs; leadership and management courses; recommendations for civilian developmental education activities, including advanced academic degrees and professional military education in residence; and developmental assignments by promotion or reassignment.

To participate, employees must access the automated T-CDP system as a new user (https://www.t-cdp.hq.af.mil) to first complete an employee profile, and then input their T-CDP.

Civilians who already have a CDP on file and want to update it should visit afpc.dpiaa.cdp@randolph.af.mil to have their password reset.
