I'm Corporal Troy Saunders with your Marine Minute.

Marines from 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines participated in cold weather training at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska, February, 28th. The training is in preparation for Exercise Arctic Edge 18, which is a large-scale, joint-training exercise that prepares the U.S. military to operate tactically in extreme cold-weather conditions.

Also in the Corps,
Marines with 2nd Law Enforcement Battalion conducted joint-training with members of the Canadian Special Forces at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, February, 26th. During the training, Marines used Patrol Explosives Detection K-9s to disorient simulated enemies and detect explosive material.

This week in Marine Corps history in 1867,
The seventh Commandant of the Marine Corps, Brigadier General Jacob Zeilin became the first Marine Corps general officer. He is also credited for approving the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor as the official emblem of the Corps.
