U.S. Army North, in an effort to better support areas impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, transferred command authority to the II Marine Expeditionary Brigade and re-designated Joint Task Force Civil Support as Task Force New York/New Jersey. U.S. ARMY NORTH TRANSFERRED COMMAND AUTHORITY AND DESIGNATION OF TASK FORCE NORTHEAST TO SECOND MARINE EXPEDITIONARY BRIGADE AND RE-DESIGNATED JOINT TASK FORCE CIVIL SUPPORT AS TASK FORCE NEW YORK/NEW JERSEY ON APRIL THIRTEENTH.
TASK FORCE-NORTH EAST ASSUMES RESPONSIBILTY FOR TITLE 10 SUPPORT TO FEMA REGION 1 AND THE U-S TERRITORIES OF PUERTO RICO AND US VIRGIN ISLANDS.
IN THEIR CONTINUED COVID-19 MITIGATION EFFORTS, TASK FORCE NEW YORK/NEW JERSEY RETAINS RESPONSIBILITY FOR FEDERAL MILITARY SUPPORT IN THE STATES OF NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY.
LT. GEN. LAURA RICHARDSON, COMMANDING GENERAL US ARMY NORTH COMMAND AND JOINT FORCES LAND COMPONENTS SAID, “WE REMAIN COMMITTED TO INCREASING COOPERATION WITH FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL PARTNERS WHILE PROVIDING REQUESTED AND APPROVED SUPPORT TO THE AREAS OF OUR COUNTRY IMPACTED BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. BOTH TASK FORCES WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE FLEXIBLE, EXPEDITIONARY SUPPORT AS PART OF OUR WHOLE-OF-NATION RESPONSE.”
