More than 40 Marines of 2nd, 4th Combat Engineer Battalions and 8th Engineer Support Battalion participated in a Sapper Leaders Course aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., July 15-29. This was a first time ever that Reserve Marines were able to participate in such a course. It was also the first time the Sapper training was ran at Camp Lejeune in two years. Since the course was planned by 4th CEB but was conducted by 2nd CEB engineer training area instructors, Active-Component Marines from 2nd CEB and 8th ESB were invited along for the training. Approximately 4,300 Marines and Sailors from Marine Forces Reserve mobilized from across the country to form Marine Air-Ground Task Force 23. ITX is a live-fire exercise combining infantry, artillery, aircraft, combat logistics and all the supporting elements to train battalion and squadron-sized units in the tactical application of combined-arms maneuver, offensive and defensive operations during combat. U.S. Marines with 4th Marine Division, compete in the 2021 rifle squad competition on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, July 30 - Aug. 23 2021. The competition was designed to test the Marines’ skills and determine the best squad within 4th MarDiv as well as raise the standard of tactical excellence throughout the division.
