1st Lt. James Salka was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with combat distinguishing device during a ceremony aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune June 8. Salka, the executive officer of Company E, Battalion Landing Team 2/6, was awarded for his service in Afghanistan with 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment.

Marines, both past and present, and sailors with 2nd Marine Division gathered together and honored the units and battles fought by the 2nd Marine Division during a battle colors rededication ceremony to celebrate the unit's 74th birthday aboard Camp Lejeune, Jan. 30, 2015.

Marines, Sailors and friends attended a deactivation ceremony for Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan aboard Camp Pendleton, California, Jan. 9; symbolically closing another chapter in Marine Corps history following the 13-year-long conflict known as Operation Enduring Freedom. MEB-A officially took authority of Regional Command (Southwest) from II MEF (Forward) Feb. 5, 2014, and assumed the responsibility to lead coalition operations in Helmand and Nimroz provinces.
