Marines of Marine Forces Reserve along with Lt. Gen. Richard P. Mills, commander of MARFORRES, honored Maj. Daniel Carmick during a wreath laying ceremony November 8, 2014. Maj. Carmick was named the commandant of a separate post and commanded Marines and local militia men in the Battle of New Orleans. Carmick would have been the Commandant of the Marine Corps had he survived the War of 1812.
