The U.S. Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard, based at Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, California, will be participating in a series of events on the east coast of the United States for the first time in years. Members of the general public will be able to see the Marine Corps' only mounted color guard at the National Memorial Day Parade, the National Museum of the Marine Corps, a Washington Nationals game, and other events around the Washington D.C. area. U.S. Marines with 2d Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, and Marines with 2d Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division (MARDIV), compete as part of the 2d MARDIV High-Frequency (HF) Competition along the east coast, July 12-15, 2021. Hurricane Florence It is expected that this destructive weather system will impact Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River with periods of strong winds, heavy rains, flooding of urban and low lying areas, potential flash floods and coastal storm surges are expected.

In the area of the St Johns River, Marines with Combat Logistics Regiment 25 under the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade are working with the Navy’s Naval Beach Group Two under Expeditionary Strike Group Two during a Maritime Prepositioning Force Exercise around the St. Johns River during the month of August. The exercise is one part of the year’s largest amphibious exercise on the East Coast named as Bold Alligator 2014.
