Lance Cpl. Nicholas R. Smarr, a Reserve Marine, was killed in the line of duty when responding to a domestic disturbance call in Americus, Ga. on Dec. 7, 2016, while serving as a police officer for the Americus Police Department. Janice Smarr, the mother of Lance Cpl. Nicholas Smarr, accepts the Navy and Marine Corps Medal on behalf of her son at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Ga., Dec. 7, 2018. Townsend Bombing Range invited local residents to hunt aboard the range Nov. 17-18. The hunters were assigned specfic hunting areas where blinds were already set up. Nearly 23 hunters attended the two day event. This opporunity allowed the local community to build bonds and learn about their neighbors at TBR.

Marines with Marine Corps Logistics Command are incorporating 3D metal printers and laser scanning to produce and reverse engineer parts, significantly reducing repair times and quickly returning mission critical equipment back to the Marine Corps.
