62nd Iwakuni Festival

As the summer months come to an end and the fall season starts, festivals begin all over Japan in celebration of the fall harvest. The close-knit communities of Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni and Iwakuni City came together for the 62nd Annual Iwakuni Festival in Iwakuni City, Japan, Oct. 21, 2018. MCAS Iwakuni personnel joined Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force service members and civilians during the event by dancing together in a parade. The goal of the festival is to enrich the Iwakuni image, show the development of the community and allow Americans and Japanese citizens to interact. This granted them the opportunity to engage in different cultures and build relationships. The festival consisted of demonstrations, performances, concerts, a flea market and food vendors.
