DCIP project at MCB Quantico

On Wednesday, July 21, 2021 the Prince William County Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Warrior Challenge Course located at Locust Shade Park in Triangle, Va. This community project was partially funded by the Defense Community Infrastructure Program (DCIP) grant from the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation (OLDCC) with support from leaders from the Prince William County Parks, Recreation and Tourism office, MCB Quantico and the community. The DCIP, a pilot program approved by the Secretary of Defense and launched on May 6, 2020, provides grants for community infrastructure projects supportive of military installations and focuses on enhancing military family quality of life. Desert Tortoise at Marine Corps Air Station Control Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) Twentynine Palms

On April 5, 2021 the Tortoise Research and Captive Rearing Site (TRACRS) at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) Twentynine Palms released a group of 98 juvenile desert tortoises into the wild. The tortoises were protected and raised in the TRACRS facility and were monitored as part of the MCAGCC translocation program. Hurricane Florence - One year later

More than a year ago, Hurricane Florence made landfall in Eastern North Carolina, dumping nearly 36 inches of rain, totaling 10 trillion gallons of water across the state. Marine Corps Installations in its path were significantly impacted resulting in nearly $3.6B in repairs and reconstruction.
