As we celebrate 248 years as the world's best fighting force, we look back at where it all began. Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego has made over a million Marines for over 100 years. The Marine Corps birthday, Nov. 10, 1775, is celebrated every year to commemorate the birthday of the Corps and honor the service and sacrifices of all Marines, past and present. U.S. Marines assigned to Marine Forces Reserve and Marine Forces South, run through the French Quarter during the annual motivational run celebrating the 248th United States Marine Corps Birthday, New Orleans, Nov. 9th, 2023. The run started at Crescent Park and traveled along the Mississippi river, through the streets of downtown New Orleans, ending at the National World War II Museum for a cake cutting ceremony.
