Two hundred fifty Marines and Sailors with the 1st Marine Logistics Group unfurled The Holiday Bowl Big Flag on Dec. 27 at Qualcomm Stadium. It is one of the largest ceremonial American Flags in the United States that is regularly used in conjunction with large public sporting events like the Super Bowl and World Series. The flag is 100 by 50 yards (45,000 sq. feet) and covers one entire football field when fully deployed. When presented at baseball games it covers most of the outfield. The Big Flag is made of lightweight nylon and weighs approximately 850 pounds.

Marines from Military Police Support Company, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, conducted a two-week annual training exercise aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Aug. 3-16. The training allowed the Marines to increase proficiency in riot control, OC spray training and fire and movement exercises.

Corporal Carl Provost, automotive mechanic, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, grew up knowing he would join the military, following his grandfather and father’s footsteps.
